Less is More for Lent

Lent is the season in the church year that prepares us and leads us toward Easter.  Lent is a time of witnessing the spiritual journey of Jesus and a time of living more deeply into our own spiritual journeys.  Lent begins with Ash Wednesday (when we remember our own mortality and the profound possibilities of our lives), continues through 6 Sundays, includes Maundy Thursday (the celebration of the Last Supper and Jesus’ giving of the New Commandment), and concludes just before Easter Sunday.
This year, our theme for the season of Lent is “Less.”  Less busyness, less clutter, less distraction, less belief in the myth of scarcity, less filling time and space with less-than-meaningful meetings and objects and TV and activities.  And more intentionality, more depth, more finding things that matter, more time with friends that feed our spirits, more meaningful conversation, more abundance, more spiritual connection.
