Global Holiday Faire Around the Corner!

It is that time of year again!  The 18th Annual Ecumenical Global Holiday Faire is right around the corner.  The Faire will be Saturday, December 5, from 9-3 and as always will feature gift items from around the world.  This year we will be raising money for 17 different local and global non-profit organizations.  We are particularly excited about the return of Milestones of Development, a long time favorite organization which was not represented at last year's Faire.  For those of you who don't know, Milestones is a Vallejo organization that works with developmentally disabled youth.  They create wonderful ceramics which will once again be for sale at the Faire.  Plus, there will be new items from returning organizations such as SERRV, Bead for Life and Global Mamas.  And as always there will be new "regifted" items for sale as well as crafts, gift baskets and baked goods.  In addition to great shopping opportunities, homemade lunch will be for sale and choirs will be performing all day long to add to the festive atmosphere.

Peace Garden Coming

Over the past several months, much work has gone into creating a new Peace Garden in the courtyard of the church.  As the plans grew, the need for new concrete pathways became evident.  A commitee was formed to make plans and presented those plans to the church for aproval a few months back.  Fundraising has been going on sense then and the project is well under way.

The new concrete has been poured and is finished.  We have new (safe!) walkways, a wider ramp, and a beautiful stamped concrete cross which is the center of the new Peace Garden.  A Peace Pole is ready to be installed and we are looking to moving on with the rest of the project.  On November 6th, the Peace Garden Committee will be meeting with a landscape architect who will help us draw up a plan for landscaping the peace garden and across the front yard of the church.

We have been busy looking at - and pricing - plants, rocks and bark as well as garden benches and tables to finish the garden.  But we have more pricing to do.  We have raised $4,650 so far.  We are confident we'll reach our goal of $5,000.  Thanks to those of you who have been so generous with your donations.  Everything is so expensive that it would be wonderful if we could surpass that goal.

We will dedicate our Peace Garden on November 29th, so mark your calendar.  You won't want to miss this special celebration on the first Sunday of Advent which is also Peace Sunday!
